Another site that needs some love before being put on the site list. Make magazine's blog has all kinds of contests and fantastic things that people from all over have made. The best part is that most things that are put on there have all the instructions for you to do it yourself. (Hence it being named "Make" instead of "Made". [sidenote: "made" is a weird word when you just sit and look at it out of context.])
And via Make (although originally created at XKCD), here is a map of the internet. (Click to see it enlarged) I think that my little slice is somewhere off the coast of the island of Engadget/Gizmodo, north through the Wikipedia project and south of DeviantArt. As well as I would have multiple residences: a castle on the border of Xanga and LiveJournal (preferably as far from the Sea of Angst as possible), a summer cottage in Facebook, and a fortress on the island of Your Base (just because).
