Christopher Robin is named after Milne's son and the cast of characters were the names of the real Christopher's stuffed animals:

When we lived in Michigan my dad and I used to walk to the creek and play pooh sticks. He would always try to claim the winning stick as his. LoL
I did not know that Pooh had a star.
