Learning is funducational!

Today Neatorama had a fantastic post featuring the site, Map Of Strange. The entire site is devoted to the unusual and fun finds on Google Maps. They have everything from the "Welcome to Cleveland" printed on top of a building in Wisconsin to the pyramids at Giza to various map glitches where roads don't connect. It's a fantastic time-waster!

While on my travels, I decided to do some Google mapping of my own. Here's some places that I find interesting (click the satellite image to go to the Google map):

What I like to call "mini-Versailles," this is the main palace on Herreninsel built by [crazy] King Ludwig II of Bavaria. It's extremely beautiful, but one of the most interesting things (besides Ludwig's myseterious death) is that it was never finished. The big pink bunny! This is an installation art piece by Gelitin that was erected in 2005. It's there to play on, nap on, marvel at and it'll be there for 18 more years. It's definitely on my list of places to visit. Official site

It doesn't look like much through the snow of the map, but that is Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg, Austria. Every single bit of the gardens were impeccably trimmed and perfect. It smelled sweeter than the most fragrant of candy shops. Wiki; Visit Salzburg

At this point I was going to show a map of the old city of Caesarea Maritima, but Israel cannot be Google mapped very easily. So instead, all I have is the picture above. When we were there, a man stood in the middle of the stage and sang. It was the absolute best acoustics and just an awesome experience. Wiki

Here is a view of the Kotokuin Temple, outside of which sits a 10m tall Buddha (who thankfully, looks nothing like Keanu Reeves). It's things like this that make me want to visit Japan really badly. Wiki; Japan-Guide.com
